SERVING AT CITY CHURCH
First Impressions Team
The mission of the First Impressions Team is “to create an environment that engages worshippers and builds meaningful relationships in order to impact our guests with the gospel.” It is our desire is to remove any barrier that will keep people from hearing the gospel.
Through the First Impressions Team, the sermon will start in the parking lot and will not end until our guests are in their car and on their way home. We believe that the Sunday morning First Impressions Teams are the first impression that our guests encounter and that through our follow up, we leave a lasting impression. Our goal is to help make any individual that walks through the doors at City Church to feel welcome and at home.
Worship & Creative Team
Our mission as the worship team is to “teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” (Colossians 3:16) Our music is meant to encourage one another in both the times of celebration and joy in our lives and the times that we ourselves have unbelief. We believe that we glorify God in our singing about him reminding our hearts of the truth of the gospel and in singing the truth to our neighbors when they are unable to remember those same truths.
Out of the same celebration and joy, our creative team are the storytellers of City Church through graphic design, podcasting, videography, social media, and more.
SERVE ON WORSHIP/CREATIVE TEAM
City Kids
We want to partner with parents to teach children not only the significance of the gospel but also what it looks like to have a fun, grace-filled, and purposeful walk with Jesus. To serve with the CityKids team involves teaching kids, singing with them, being silly with them, and praying with them and for them. All leaders complete a CityKids Application and background check. Serving with CityKids can be done every other week by leading in one of the following ways:
1. Classroom Leaders are paired together to teach and care for that age group.1. Classroom Leaders are paired together to teach and care for that age group.
2. Service Coordinators greet parents and children at check-in as well as support our classrooms during the service.
City Youth
We believe our job is to equip middle and high school students to walk in faith when they leave their homes after high school. In order to do that, we need to do more than just teach students facts about Scripture or convince them to follow Christ. We need to equip them to study Scripture and show them the eternal value of being a part of a local church family. We do this through the weekly Wednesday night meeting, Bible study groups, and various other events.
City College
City College exists to lead college students to Christ and equip them to have an intimate walk with Christ. This is primarily done by helping students engage and serve in the local church for a lifetime. We do this through the weekly Wednesday night meeting, Bible study groups, and various other events.
Local & Global Mission
City Church is located in a specific area of Murfreesboro with the intention that we as a church family provide for the physical, social, and spiritual needs of this local community. We do this specifically by serving Bradley Academy, its faculty, staff, students, and families, through financial support, written encouragement, and volunteer opportunities. Our vision is to become a significant part of the neighborhood we serve, seeing those families become our family.
Our existence in this city must transform into a physical presence within people’s lives, bringing the real, tangible joy and peace and restoration of the gospel into people’s relationships, families, work places, and communities.
In this, when we start heeding the Scripture by letting our “light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matt 5:16).
